AJ’s blazers have embroidered quotes inside them – what is your inspiring quote?
The world is your oyster

The best part of running your own business?
I love the connection that jewellery makes, so hearing reviews and comments from our customers is fabulous. Aside from that I really value, and am inspired by, the pre-dominantly female team I both work with, and do business with.

Your favourite piece from your collection?
The world is your oyster pendant is closest touch heart – it was inspired by a shell from the beach near where I was born, and where I am sure I get my love, and need for the sea.

How do you unwind away from your business?
I find swimming outside very meditative-the breath work and stroke you need to do for front crawl is totally immersing, and feeling yourself glide though the water, in beautiful locations is balm to the soul. Outside of that I love cooking, and getting immersed in a good book. And seeing friends-I have taken up bridge – mostly as a way to consistently see friends, as I do have a tendency to get too immersed in work, so it’s a vital part of my well being. And I like the brain work that comes with learning something new!

Do you have any exciting new plans or products for Claudia Bradby?
We do! We are currently planning a VIP event with a fabulous blogger friend. It is the first one hosted by us, as to date we have been hosted by stockists. It gives me the chance to meet and listen to our customers, and hopefully have an inspiring evening.  That apart I have a small capsule collection launching in September which will be perfect for Christmas presents and also includes a stand out pair of pearl hoops…

Another inspiring woman in business?
I am very inspired by the passion, hard work and innovative thinking of 3 retailers I supply – Rebecca from Last Night I Dreamt, and Sally and Rachel from Sass and Edge. Outside of the jewellery world, I hugely admire Clare Hornby from Me and Em who not only has a fabulous eye, and great style, but a fastidious attention to detail and understanding of what her market/women want and need from their wardrobe.

Your top piece of advice for anyone starting their own business.
Be brave, keep fit (it’s hard work), and don’t under sell what you do. Build a network of people who believe in, and support you. And keep on top of the finances.

How would you style a blazer? And would you dress it up or down?
I’d love to wear the navy pinstripe with a simple white t-shirt, my Donna Ida flared jeans and trainers, with my big pearl hoops, and a couple of layered chain necklaces.
